Iron-Horse Park
Built in 1912, Iron-Horse Park was a train yard built by Boston & Maine (B&M) when it was still in control of New Hampsire. it used to be maintenance and manufacturing stops for the newest cutting edges of train technology, and in fact; was quite modern for its time period. the property containing a roundhouse, track lines, several office buildings, massive warehouses, dump sites, and the billrica shop complex. It was used throughout WWII but as time goes on and new technology becomes old, the maintenance warehouse found no further uses and fell into a decrepid state, while some parts of Ironhorse Park were active through the late 80's and even some parts being still active today, the main repair shop for old locomotives has turned into a desolate spectacle to be seen. Currently ironhorse park is one of the EPAs Superfund Cleanup sites.
Although we went here a while ago I never posted the pictures so I thought I'd just do the update now. One day me, mike bike and his brothers went on an UE road trip to places unknown, our first location was ironhorse a massive train yard that housed impressive abandonments. we came here and spent a few hours, I found blueprints, paperworks, and checks predating WWII. we also monkeyed about on some of the 10 ton cranes and beautiful Iron Beams throughout the building. It was an awesome building that I'd want to revisit again and again. just standing on the ground floor looking at the expanse of forgotten history was awestriking.

Plymouth County Tuberculosis Clinic
Built in 1923 the Plymouth County Hospitals main purpose was to help deal with a tuberculosis epidemic that was happening in the late 1920s around the plymouth county/boston area. after the need for such a place died out it was used as a normal hospital and later a mental institution being renamed to the Cranberry Specialty Hospital. which closed for good in 1992. Since then it has been subject to multiple arsons, vandalism and partial demolition of the burnt out sections of the property. Most local residents claim the property to be haunted, the premesis is also patrolled by local police.
Yesterday some friends and I went on a road trip to find the Cranberry Specialty Hospital, and after much searching finally found it. We ended up climbing inside a second story window through a rope that was hanging out. but we got stuck in the portion of the building that had been subject to fire and years of water damage. there were recent looking generators and strings of lights from construction teams. but even then. no one had cared for this building in a long time. The inside was mostly dark because of the heavily boarded windows and at multiple sections our progress was stunted by a collapsed roof that took everything out down to the basement.
Overall It was a cool place, but we got there a little too late in the day and didnt have much time to explore, nor did I get any pictures that I find good. but Im looking forward to go back and exploring the rest of it. I will admit though I did get some chills everynow and then. oh yeah and just one thing when we did leave I had gone up to the second floor and was taking pictures, when I looked out a window and saw my friends running for the other side of the fence, you know its always good to tell that last person your leaving so they dont go and recklessly walk on some broken floors, thinking they got back up incase they fall through one.
